Library Gets Safety Renovations

Our beloved Auburn Library is ready for a renovation! Starting January 2025, the library will temporarily close its doors to undergo nearly $10 million in upgrades. Thanks to the California State Library’s Building Forward Library Infrastructure Grant program and a matching contribution from Placer County, the Auburn Library is expected to reopen in Summer 2026 with improved accessibility and facilities upgrades.

Where can you go for library service in the meantime? Great news! While we are closed for construction, you can visit us at the Placer County Finance and Administration Building (FAB) located at 2980 Richardson Drive in North Auburn. You’ll be able to pick up holds, return materials, and even attend regular library programs like Preschool Storytime and Adult Bookclub! You can also visit us at any of our other full-service locations, including the Rocklin Library, which is now conveniently open seven days a week!

For all of the very latest updates on the Auburn Library renovation, please visit us at www.placer.ca.gov/library/BuildingForwardAuburn, where you can find answers to Frequently Asked Questions, including when our new FAB Library hours begin and where to go to attend the popular Silver Screen and T’ai Chi Programs.

We are so grateful for your wonderful support during the entirety of this process. The past 50 years on 350 Nevada Street have told the story of a vibrant, cherished library, beloved by its community. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to open the doors in 2026 to the next chapter!
